Thrive as a Senior Woman Leader in Tech: Finding Balance

That’s exactly how I’ve felt at times in my career as… I don’t say that to discourage you, but to let you know that sometimes it happens and you’re not alone if you’ve felt that way. I was struggling to thrive as a senior woman leader in tech.

It can be lonely at the top… especially as a woman in tech, and particularly if you’re in a senior leadership in engineering role. But building a support network of mentors, sponsors, and communities is essential for success.

I had the chance to record 3 podcast episodes over the summer talking about navigating my career and advice that I have both from my experiences and as executive leadership coach. You’ll want to give them a listen.

1️⃣ Tech Trailblazer featuring Jossie Haines, Princeton ’99 on Ivy League Sisters

In this interview, I share my journey starting from being a 16-year-old Princeton student to becoming a leader in Silicon Valley. I discuss the challenges I’ve faced as a woman in tech, including bias and burnout, and how those experiences led me to become a champion for diversity and inclusion. Listen here to learn valuable advice on navigating career growth, the importance of mentorship, and finding support networks.

2️⃣ You Don’t Have Imposter Syndrome—Here’s Why w/ Jossie Haines on WINii: MoneyBites

My hot take? I agree with Reshma Saujani’s bold assertion that imposter syndrome is, in fact, a myth. I think it’s a result of deeper issues at play, like why so many mid-career women are walking away from tech. Spoiler: It’s not about balancing family life. The real culprit? Microaggressions. It’s the subtle, insidious behaviors that push talented women out, with 50% leaving the field by 35. Listen here to explore what leadership can do to stem this exodus.

3️⃣ Architect Your Career – Thrive as a Senior Woman Leader in Tech – Jossie Haines on Backstage with Women on Stage

I sat down with Morgan Weber, the CEO & founder of Women on Stage, to discuss the challenges women face in tech, including bias and the lack of representation in senior leadership roles, especially in engineering. Listen here to learn more about how you should be networking, finding support systems, and advocating to architect a career you love.

Give them a listen, and let me know what you think about any of them!

Cheers,
Jossie
